Now – Thru September 24
The Summer Invitational
An Invitational Exhibition featuring mixed-media two and three-dimensional works.
“Piecemeal,” an exhibition of new and recent works by Julie Plasketes, is currently on display with a reception planned for Thursday, Sept. 16, from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at the Jan Dempsey Community Arts Center (JDCAC).
Plasketes’ work has been exhibited in galleries and museums in national and regional juried and invitational shows, earning juror and merit recognition. This exhibition features 54 collages and three ceramic pieces. Piecemeal is defined as unsystematic partial measures taken over a period of time. The collages in this body of work explore “the pieces process” as a means of generating shape and color, pattern and decoration, scenes and settings in rearrangement and restoration. “Piecemeal” includes four collage groups: Spaces and Places, Rooms, Sides of a River and Contemporary Ikebana Landscapes.
The reception, hosted by the Auburn Arts Association (AAA), is free and open to the public. The Art Gallery is open Monday-Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. For more information, please contact the JDCAC at (334) 501-2963, follow the AAA on Facebook and Instagram or visit auburnalabama.org/arts.
